Season 1 Episode 1: Pilot

Joey DeLuca is a construction worker and aspiring pianist in New York City trying to keep his family afloat, but he is barely holding it together as his mother’s medical bills rise, his younger sibling needs school money, and his work hours get cut. He tries every honest option he can find, but nothing is enough. One night he comes home to find his mother collapsed on the floor, and at the hospital doctors tell him she needs immediate medication and tests that he cannot afford. A man named Frank Leto offers him a simple job for fast cash, and Joey refuses at first, but as the night wears on and the hospital makes it clear they cannot wait, he realizes there is no other option and calls Frank back. Joey completes the job and is paid more money than he has ever seen. But he now realizes that his life dream of becoming a famous pianist is nearly impossible.
