Joey is formally brought into Frank Leto’s organization after proving himself through work and consistent reliability. Joey is introduced to key members and during this transition, Joey meets with his cousin David DeLuca, and they share a rare heartfelt moment that briefly reminds Joey of his old life and what he is trying to protect. Joey continues using his cover, but during a family dinner with his son Joey Jr., he leaves out of the blue after a call, and he has trouble explaining his where he went when he comes back, he simply says it was for work after seconds of him waiting.
