Season 5 Episode 13: Impure

When David learns of the hit out on him, he gives a tearful goodbye to everyone in his family, knowing he very well couldn't make it out alive. David realizes what needs to be done. He gets in a violent confrontation with Vic over how he chose a life of crime over his own family. Ultimately, the battle between brothers comes to a close when Vic gains the upper hand. David, defeated, confesses that Bruce was the one to plant the seeds of doubt in his mind to begin with, on top of confessing that he directly told Sadie to leave and helped Sammy escape. David purposefully abstains from telling Vic where Sammy went. He offers Vic an ultimatum: to either help him up and the two of them take down Ira together or to kill him and go back to Ira. Vic executes David with no remorse. The series closes with Vic returning to Ira's office and giving him a firm handshake, sealing that what he was sent out to do is finally done and that he is truly lost.
