Thanks to Christian Prouteau for joining us in the LEGEND studio. Christian Prouteau was the founder and first commander of the GIGN in 1974. He agreed to look back on the defining moments of his career with LEGEND. In 1976, he coordinated the operation to rescue child hostages between Djibouti and the Somali border; two years later, he averted a bloodbath between the Gendarmerie and a group of Corsican nationalists in Ajaccio. With 470 hostages saved over the course of his career, the man known as "Le Grand" has earned his place in French history.
